A Midsummer Night's Dream: Auditions

Our next show is A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, and the source of our theatre company's namesake!

This fantastically fun production will be directed by Robert Hanson and promises to be intriguing and immersive. Auditions will take place March 19th-20th, and performances will be June 8th through the 17th.

This sexy and sassy show will be geared toward an adult crowd, so we're asking that everyone who auditions be age 18 or older. (The performance itself will be most enjoyed by mature high school students and up.)

Auditions will take place at the Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet on March 19th, and at the Uptown Theatre on March 20th. Please note: call-backs will take place the second half of the evening on Monday, March 20th.

For detailed information regarding audition requirements, the production concept, and rehearsal information, please read below:

Auditions for William Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM will take place on Sunday, March 19 (starting at 5:30 PM) and on Monday, March 20 (starting at 7 PM). All auditionees are required to schedule an audition appointment.

All audtionees will be required to prepare a comedic Shakespearian monologue, one minute or less. Please dress professionally yet comfortably, and be prepared to move and dance.

This production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM will be an urban adventure; the young lovers will run away from a corporate, white-collar, structured environment to a club called The Forest, which (unbeknownst to the lovers) is run by a magical group of Fairies, lead by Oberon and Titania. (Think of a combination of a Baz Luhrmann club from Moulin Rouge or the party scene from his Romeo + Juliet, combined with the Fairies from True Blood.) And don't worry, The Rude Mechanicals, led by NIck Bottom the Weaver, will be there, too.

Casting for the lovers is open; depending on who auditions, the director holds the right to cast two heterosexual couples, or one same-sex couple and one heterosexual couple.

Actors auditioning for the roles of the young lovers, Oberon, Titania, and Nick Bottom need to clarify on their audition forms whether they would be comfortable with physical intimacy on stage.

Rehearsals will start on Sunday afternoons for the month of March, and then move to rehearsals Monday through Thursday evenings, plus Sunday afternoons in April.
